Commonly Asked Questions Regarding Light-Transmitting Panels

Is the Light Transmitting Panel a skylight?

  • MBCI’s Light Transmitting Panel is not constructed like a typical residential skylight, but it is made of translucent fiberglass or polycarbonate material instead of a typical laminated or tempered glass. LTPs can lap within a metal roof and wall system and maintain watertightness with proper design, installation and maintenance.

What components are included in the Field-Installed Kit?

Our Double-Lok Light Transmitting Panel includes the following components in its kit:

  • (1) HW-1470 LTP Panel Uninsulated OR (1) HW-1471 LTP Panel Insulated
  • (2) HW-1210 Double-Lok Repair Caps in Mill Finish Aluminum
  • (1) HW-1474 Fastener Bag Unpainted
  • (2) HW-7760 Back-Up Plates
  • (2) Tubes of HW-540 Urethane Sealant in White
  • (2) Rolls of Tr-Bead Tape Sealer

What will I be responsible for during the installation process?

  • The installer is responsible for ensuring that the installation and use of all LTPs comply with state, Federal and OSHA regulations and laws. This includes, but is not limited to, guarding all light-transmitting panels with screens, fixed standard railing, or other acceptable safety controls that prevent fall-through. It is crucial to prioritize safety when implementing these panels in any building or structure.
