  • Improving Wind Uplift on Metal Roofs

    Developed in collaboration between S-5! and MBCI,  this AIA-approved course provides a basic knowledge of wind uplift resistance on metal roof systems.

  • Course Overview

    Architects and designers will have the opportunity to learn about wind uplift requirements, testing and proper wind mitigation specification techniques as well as metal roof options and accessories to improve wind uplift characteristics. This course was developed in partnership with S-5!.

    Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this course the student will have a general knowledge of:

    1. Current wind uplift tests and how they are performed.
    2. Wind uplift ratings, wind zones and specific wind uplift requirements.
    3. Specific metal roof products, panel profiles and applications that perform best for wind uplift.
    4. Methods and accessories to improve wind uplift characteristics for metal roofs.
    5. Wind control value engineering techniques and refer to project specific examples.
    6. The proper selection and specification techniques of wind-rated roofs and accessories to meet uplift requirements.
