Retrofit roof systems lend themselves to both low-slope and high-slope applications, the selection of which generally depends on the desired effect. A low-slope roof is typically implemented in industrial and manufacturing facilities, where shedding water is the primary objective. In most cases, low-profile framing is used at the eaves and is then attached to framing that is typically no taller than 60 inches. The result is an economical and functional roof system that has a relatively flat appearance.
A high-slope roof can be simple or complex. The complexity is usually driven by the design professional’s desired aesthetic effects and the footprint of the existing roof. Most often, the roof material is visually interesting, adding style and color to the roof exterior.
In addition, retrofit systems are ideally suited for hips and valleys as well as other architectural enhancements such as dormers, Dutch gables and architectural trims.
