MBCI worked with the architectural firm Milton Powel & Partners from Dallas, Texas, and general contractor and metal roofing installer SLR from Fort Worth, Texas, to install a durable, watertight metal roof system over the aquatic complex.
MBCI offered the advantage of having panels readily available, and SLR was able to install the panels quickly in order to meet a strenuous time constraint. This allowed the facility to open sooner.
MBCI’s metal roofs are also economicaland have the ability to withstand harsh weather conditions and providing a long lifespan compared to other conventional roofing materials.
The color chosen for the City Lake Aquatic Center was Everglade, which has an SRI value of 36. To meet LEED requirements, a roofing material must have an SRI of 29 or higher for steep slope roofing. MBCI’s metal panels are also earth-friendly because of their recycled content and recyclability.
Overall, the City Lake Aquatic Center met its desired goals for the swimming facility and overcame the challenges of this project, meeting the demands of the building operator.
